TB4Health presents new healthcare solutions at Santa Maria Innovation Week
TB4Health, in collaboration with the Santa Maria Local Health Unit, is promoting a session dedicated to the Test Beds of Health Sector, to be held next Tuesday. This session, part of ULSSM’s Innovation Week, will challenge companies in the sector to find innovative technological solutions, such as the creation of a portable device for Vestibular Rehabilitation, a digital solution for clinical decision support in the area of Pathological Anatomy, the automation of the scheduling process for Internal Medicine and the optimization of the screening process for outpatient appointments.
In addition to these Open Innovation Challenges, the session, which will take place in the Egas Moniz Building on the campus of the Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon, will include a round table, networking moments, demonstrations and presentations of innovative projects by start-ups. ‘This session will be an excellent opportunity for sharing ideas, networking and collaboration between the various Start-ups and Test Beds in the National Test Bed Network,’ say the organizers.
This meeting aims to prepare the ground for the sustainability and continuation of these initiatives after the conclusion of the Recovery and Resilience Programme (PRR), under which they were launched, and will be attended by various national players involved.
The study ‘Adoption of AI Technologies in Healthcare: A Study of (Ethical) Inhibitors and Motivators’, carried out in partnership between TB4Health and the Neoma Business School in France, will also be launched, with a particular focus on the factors that influence the adoption of new Artificial Intelligence technologies by healthcare professionals.

What are Test Beds?
The National Network of Test Beds is a measure under the Recovery and Resilience Programme (PRR). As part of the Companies 4.0 Incentive Scheme, the National Network of Test Beds aims to create a national network to provide services to companies for the development and testing of new products and services.
Considered to be centres of innovation, the Test Beds operate on a collaborative basis between the companies responsible for their operation and the companies to which they provide services.
The aim of this collaborative network is to increase the number of product pilots (digital or only possible to produce using the digitisation of processes and digital tools) that become commercially viable by crossing what is known as the ‘valley of death’ and to share knowledge/experience through case studies to help SMEs learn digital processes.
The TB4Health consortium
TB4Health is one of the Test Beds with a focus on the health and biotechnology sector that is part of the National Network of Test Beds. The consortium formed by Biocant Park, the consortium leader, ULS Santa Maria, ULS Coimbra, Complear, Medtronic and Lusíadas covers clinical, diagnostic and treatment areas. It also includes access to large-scale information databases, regulatory support, including the protection of personal data, not only within the scope of the pilot tests, but especially with a view to placing products or services derived from them on the market.
